When you search in SharePoint 2010, you may get the following error:

You will have to install the following hotfix

I used to get the following Error when I search for anything
Internal Server Exception on Sharepoint Server Search.
You should enable “Search Server WebParts” feature on the Site Collection level.
That helped me. Hope it helps you too.

Correlation IDs can be looked up in the SharePoint (ULS) logs. (Look under Health and Monitoring in SharePoint 2010 Central Administration) to determine where your logs are saved to.

Correlation IDs are also logged in the Usage database.
